The King of Elfland’s Daughter by Lord Dunsany is a fantasy novel first published in 1924. It tells the story of Alveric, a mortal prince who journeys into the magical realm of Elfland to marry Lirazel, the daughter of the King of Elfland. He brings her back to the mortal world, but her otherworldly nature causes conflict, and she eventually returns to Elfland. Alveric sets out on a quest to find her again, while their son, Orion, grows up torn between the human and elfin worlds. The novel blends myth, romance, and poetic prose, exploring themes of longing, the clash between magic and reason, and the boundaries between worlds.
