The Iron in the Fire

What if spiritual power is not something you seize-but a Life you receive?A bar of iron cannot create its own fire. Yet when it remains in the flame, it begins to glow, radiate heat, and kindle whatever it touches-without ever ceasing to be iron. The early Church used this image to describe theosis: humanity’s real participation, by grace, in the life of God.In The Iron in the Fire, Adelphos Alain Lea retrieves this ancient Christian vision and turns it toward one of the most misunderstood subjects in the Church: spiritual power.Drawing from Scripture and the wisdom of the Church Fathers, he explores authority, divine energy, grace, strength, endurance, majesty, salvation, glory, and holy desire-not as abilities believers possess independently, but as expressions of the one life of God working within those who abide in Christ. This is not another manual for activating power, mastering spiritual techniques, or striving to become extraordinary. It is an invitation to surrender, remain in the presence of God, and become fully alive with a radiance you were never meant to manufacture. For readers tired of religious performance and spiritual striving, this book offers a deeper path: less self-reliance, more communion; less performance, more presence; less effort to produce God’s life, more willingness to receive it.You are the iron. God is the fire. Remain in His presence, and your life will begin to shine.
