Kathleen Backman, B.A.Kathleen Backman has lived in Plumas County, Californiasince 1994. She attended Concordia College Portland,Oregon where she studied Early Childhood Education andArt. She completed her studies in Sociology at ChicoState University, California. She is a mural artist andworked as an art teacher for 12 years. Her illustrationsof the Original Graeagle Bear story can be found onthe boulders that landscape the Graeagle Outpost. Thisstory is patterned after her encounter with a local bearswimming in the Mill Pond one summer morning.Mary Lou 'Dink' Rife B.S., M.A.Mary Lou 'Dink' Rife has lived in Plumas County, Californiasince 1964. She received her B.S. Degree from ColoradoUniversity, Boulder and her M. A. Degree in psychologyfrom The University of Northern Colorado, Greeley. Sheis a retired school teacher and counselor and workedwith all grade levels. 'Dink' enjoys writing stories, poems,and greeting cards in rhyme. This is her first children?sstory.
