Epictetus was a Greek philosopher who lived in the first century AD and taught a philosophy known as Stoicism. The Golden Sayings is a collection of his most memorable and insightful teachings, presented as aphorisms or short maxims. In these sayings, Epictetus expounds on the virtues of self-mastery, inner peace, and detachment from material goods. Although he lived two thousand years ago, his wisdom remains relevant today, and his influence can be felt in the works of later philosophers like Marcus Aurelius and Michel de Montaigne. This book is a great introduction to Stoicism and to one of its most eloquent proponents. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.This work is in the 'public domain in the United States of America, and possibly other nations.
