A landmark anthology of some the seminal texts that ignited the modern Gnostic revival. The Gnosis Restored gathers, for the first time in English, foundational writings of Jules-Benoît Stanislas Doinel du Val-Michel and his successors-Papus, Léonce-Eugène-Joseph Fabre des Essarts, Marie Chauvel de Chauvigny, Louis-Sophrone Fugairon, and Jean 'Joanny' Bricaud. From Doinel’s visionary discourses on Isis, initiation, and the esotericism of the grades, to penetrating studies of Simon Magus, Valentinus, and the Philosophumena, these pages reveal the theological, symbolic, and ritual heart of the restored Gnosis. The volume includes the historic decree of the Synod, the Gnostic Catechism, meditations on love and martyrdom, and rare documents on the Church’s statutes, hierarchy, and conciliations.Later contributions explore the mysteries of the Cabiri, the Magists’ calendar, the origins of the Tarot, and the esoteric architecture of cathedrals-culminating in Bricaud’s study of J.-K. Huysmans and the shadow of fin-de-siècle Satanism.Meticulously translated and introduced, this collection is an indispensable resource for scholars, initiates, and seekers drawn to the living current of Gnostic, Martinist, and esoteric Masonic traditions.
