The Genuine Rejected Addresses: Presented To The Committee Of Management For Drury-Lane Theatre (1812) is a collection of satirical poems written by various authors, including the famous poet Lord Byron George Gordon. The poems were originally submitted to the Committee of Management for Drury-Lane Theatre in London as proposals for the opening address of the theatre’s upcoming season. However, they were all rejected, and the authors decided to publish them together as a parody of the rejected proposals. The poems in the collection are written in a variety of styles and tones, ranging from witty and clever to absurd and nonsensical. They poke fun at various aspects of theatre and society, including the actors, the audience, and the management of the theatre itself. Some of the poems are written in the form of mock speeches, while others are in the form of humorous songs or poems. The Genuine Rejected Addresses is considered a classic of British satire and has been praised for its wit, humor, and clever wordplay. It is also notable for its inclusion of works by several prominent writers of the time, including Lord Byron and his friend Percy Bysshe Shelley. The book remains a popular and influential work of satire to this day. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
