The story involved numerous living testimonies from people who crossed paths with one another, in the conflict known as the Vietnam War. These people included almost a million simple peasants who fled North Vietnam in 1954, looking for freedom from tyranny, as a result of the Geneva Agreement, partitioning Vietnam across the 17th parallel.
