He continually returns to what is most basic-the clarity of revelation, the unity that there is in Christ, and the knowledge of God as the good-so that what is less basic may be rightly understood and applied. By identifying and correcting underlying assumptions, he provides a principled pattern for the Church to overcome division by laying again foundational truths, establishing believers in maturity manifested in fruitfulness, fostering unity in the faith, and striving for fullness in the knowledge of God. This exposition calls the Church from its current fragmentation to fullness in Christ, perfectly united in mind and thought, that it might faithfully accomplish the mission mandate to make disciples of all nations.
