The Fifties Remembered is an assemblage of many short stories about some unusual or extrodinary event that happened while growing up and maturing in the fifties decade. Life was simpler before the electronic age. No one was bored, walking was the way of life, and a fun loving sprit permeated society in the years after the war ended. Moral correctness but liberated from discipline made the fifties decade unique. On the street corner the all male crowd gathered every evening to get out of the house and have a good time. Having a fast car gave you more of an advantage than just winning a drag race. In the fifties the Philadelphia waterfront was the cities heartbeat based on a centuries old meeting place where producers, merchants, and store keepers came together. The waterfront characters of that eara were unique. Many people growing up in the fifties were exposed to situations where something tragic could have happened, but didn’t. These incidents became whole life learning experiences that can benefit everyone today.
