This early work by Catherine Louisa Pirkis was originally published in 1894 and we are now republishing it with a brand new introductory biography. ’The Experiences of Loveday Brooke, Lady Detective’ is a collection of short detective stories that include ’Drawn Daggers ’, ’A Princess’s Vengeance ’, ’The Redhill Sisterhood’, and several other classic tales of mystery. Catherine Louisa Pirkis was born in 1841 in London, England. It wasn’t until 1877 that Perkis published her first novel ’Disappeared from Her Home’. She followed this with ’In a World of His Own’ in 1878, and from then on she prolifically produced short stories, articles and novels. Her most lasting legacy is her creation of one of the earliest female detectives, Loveday Brooke, in the 1890’s.
