Daphne’s dramatic nighttime escapades don’t translate to the day, where Daphne is persecuted by a particularly wicked teacher, dodges the school bullies and falls out with Clarissa over her ’made up dreams’.Meanwhile, Daphne visits a woman, shaven and sickly, plugged into a symphony of beeping medical machines in what is clearly not a hospital. The dreams are fleeting, and she forgets about them. It appears that Daphne’s dreams are trying to show her something, when, with a deep sense of familiarity, she discovers a burnt out chalet in the Swiss Alps. Daphne begins to unravel the truth as she learns that this was once the home of a family of scientists. Shocking similarities begin to emerge between their family and the little she knows of her own family. As she digs deeper, through dream trips to the Alps and covert investigations (which involve unwrapping all of the Christmas presents in her sleep) she begins to learn that the family who lived there were hiding some big secrets...
