The Dippers is a novel written by Ben Travers and first published in 1920. The story revolves around the lives of two young men, Jack and Reggie, who are both avid swimmers and members of a local swimming club called The Dippers. Jack is a charming and carefree young man, while Reggie is more serious and studious. Despite their differences, the two become close friends and spend much of their time together, swimming in the local river and competing in swimming races. As the story progresses, Jack becomes involved with a beautiful young woman named Daphne, who is also a member of The Dippers. However, their relationship is complicated by the fact that Daphne is engaged to another man, and Jack is torn between his love for her and his loyalty to his friend Reggie.Meanwhile, Reggie becomes increasingly obsessed with his studies, neglecting his health and his friendships in the process. When he becomes seriously ill, Jack and Daphne rally around him and help him to recover, leading to a renewed sense of camaraderie among the members of The Dippers.Overall, The Dippers is a charming and nostalgic novel that captures the spirit of youth and the joys of outdoor recreation. It is a celebration of the simple pleasures of life, and a reminder of the importance of friendship and community. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
