The Christmas That Never Was is a fictional story about a 10 year-old boy who is abruptly taken, just days before Christmas, from his mother and maternal grandparents with whom he had always lived. A corrupt and deceitful court ordered the child to live with his abusive father and neglectful paternal grandmother. The father has never shown much love or concern for his son. Prior to the great take-away, the child had opportunity to be with both of his parents. Now, the child is forced to spend time in his room when not attending school. He has little opportunity for extra curricular activities. He has minimal contact with his mother and none with his maternal grandparents. The child one day discovered while on the internet alone that he could look up fun things. The child quickly realized that he was able to maintain hope and joy in his heart by his frequent searches on the internet for stories of his beloved historic Williamsburg, a special place he had loved and visited frequently with his mother and grandparents. The child discovered that he found comfort and happiness by visiting familiar places online that he held dear in his heart. His online visits connected him to the lost family he loved so much. The young child was keenly aware that those happy times in his life had been taken from him by bad people. The young child did not grow bitter because he was so very excited to learn powerful things about the places he had greatly enjoyed with his mother and grandparents. It is also a way for the young child to experience that warmth and special feeling of freedom he so enjoyed on his past visits to historic Williamsburg. You will see in this story, recounted through the eyes of a young child, the child’s online intrigue comes to be quite extensive and creates a learning opportunity for him and the reader. His online intrigue opens the door for him to relive the special times he had experienced in historic Williamsburg. The book includes many interesting facts to trigger the young child’s inquisitive mind. The second part of the story is written by the author. It is a stark account of the course of the young child’s life after the take-away and the ongoing aftermath. It also reflects upon the unrelenting negative decisions made by unrelated persons that impacted the young child’s certainty but not his determination. The young child’s online intrigue yielded the technique shaping creative preservation of his emotional life.
