''The Children of the Nile'' is a historical fiction novel written by Marmaduke Pickthall. The story is set in ancient Egypt during the reign of Pharaoh Akhenaten and follows the life of a young boy named Rameses. Rameses is the son of a nobleman and is raised in the royal court of Thebes. As he grows up, he becomes fascinated with the religion of the new pharaoh, who has outlawed the worship of the traditional gods in favor of a monotheistic belief in the sun god Aten.Rameses becomes a devotee of the new religion and begins to question the old ways. He becomes friends with the pharaoh’s daughter, Nefertiti, and together they explore the mysteries of the new faith. However, as Rameses grows older, he begins to see the darker side of the pharaoh’s rule. Akhenaten’s obsession with his new religion has led to neglect of the country’s affairs, and the people are suffering. As Rameses struggles with his loyalty to the pharaoh and his love for his people, he becomes embroiled in a dangerous plot to overthrow Akhenaten and restore the old gods. The story culminates in a dramatic confrontation between Rameses and the pharaoh, as the fate of Egypt hangs in the balance.''The Children of the Nile'' is a vivid and engaging portrayal of ancient Egypt, with rich descriptions of the culture, religion, and daily life of its people. It is a story of love, loyalty, and sacrifice, set against the backdrop of one of the most fascinating periods of human history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
