The Chainbearer Or The Littlepage Manuscripts, V2 is a novel written by James Fenimore Cooper. It is the second volume in a series that follows the Littlepage family as they navigate the changing landscape of early America. The story takes place in the mid-18th century and centers around the character of Chainbearer, a surveyor who is tasked with dividing up land in the newly formed United States. As he works to carry out his duties, he becomes embroiled in a complex web of relationships and rivalries that threaten to tear apart the fragile fabric of society. Along the way, he encounters a colorful cast of characters, including a group of Native Americans, a scheming landowner, and a young woman who captures his heart. Through it all, Cooper explores themes of power, greed, and the struggle for identity in a rapidly changing world. With its vivid descriptions of the American landscape and its nuanced portrayal of complex characters, The Chainbearer Or The Littlepage Manuscripts, V2 is a must-read for fans of historical fiction and classic literature. It is true that a remark or two did escape him, soon after the affair occurred, that tended to sustain my suspicions; but, on the whole, he was remarkably reserved on the subject--less from any apprehension of consequences, than from self-respect and pride of character. There was little to be apprehended, indeed; the previous murder of Chainbearer, and the unlawful nature of all the proceedings of the squatters, justifying a direct and sudden attack on the part of the posse. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world’s literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
