The Catastrophe of Disaster Aid critically examines both the effectiveness and limitations of non-governmental organization (NGO) aid, particularly in the attempt to achieve sustainable development in the aftermath of disasters. Focusing on the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, the book argues that effective disaster aid must make development a centrepiece of its intervention in order to reduce future vulnerabilities and build resilient communities.
