In The Can’t Ant; author William Lawrence Drake presents a thoughtful analysis of America’s complicated history with slavery while evaluating its impact on education and religious and political discourse for African Americans in the South, and in particular, Dallas, Texas. Exposing educational shortcomings and calling for an end to revisionist history lessons, Drake lays bare his concern for the future of America and advocates for stronger community commitment and a return to God and family values in order to save the country from destruction. Drake’s commentary is a rallying cry to younger generations and promotes the inexorable truth that love can conquer hate. But Drake reminds us that in order for love to shine freely, the filters of ignorance, intolerance, bigotry, and divisiveness must be removed, and he challenges us to examine and discuss our own values and desires for the future of our great nation.
