From the early 21st century, written sketches celebrate the birdwatching and natural spectacle of Britain. These random jottings from a defunct blog traverse the length of the country to record birds coming and going as the seasons change. Rarities make an occasional appearance. The prevailing weather changes: from the heavy snow of 2010 to the damaging floods of 2013/14, a wet and stormy trend contrasts with earlier, quieter years.[By 2024 the spectacle has changed, mainly for the worse.]Plus a checklist ordered by Britain’s most common birds and our migrants’ early/late dates.
