Acupuncture has been systematically taught and practised in the West based on the understanding of two medical rationalities: Traditional Chinese Medicine and Biomedicine. The purpose of this book is to discuss how understanding the explanatory theories of acupuncture creates a field of legitimacy for this practice, but does not provide a deeper understanding of the practice of acupuncture itself.
