While reading The Blue Crayon, a book for both children and adults, you’ll experience this heartwarming journey, and you will fall in love with a ten-year-old little girl named Gabby Damon, who has not said a word in over five years. She is diagnosed with autism, and Gabby’s doctors prescribe over twenty pills a day and use her to experiment with other types of medications. Her parents are so frustrated by the intake of these meds. Gabby’s mother turns to the Internet to find help for her daughter. She finds the Dolphin Universe in Florida. Doctor Roth, who started working with dolphins in Vietnam, is now treating children in Florida, using dolphin therapy as a means to unlock the energy sources trapped in the minds of children of all ages. Now he works with children from all over the world and has amazing results. As she works with Doctor Roth’s lead dolphin, Lucas, Gabby’s parents and others get a little more than what they bargained for. Gabby has drawn the exact same drawings that Doctor Roth drew over forty years ago, along with five other drawings in great detail, messages leading to biblical and government secrets and a date (in blue crayon) that scholars and government officials are baffled and afraid to share with anyone. Today, every time we turn on the news or read the papers, we read stories of special-needs children—some heartwarming and others heartbreaking. We hear of some great stories using new technology or using new meds, but using simple sessions with dolphins, Gabby and The Blue Crayon give hope for children who suffer from autism and PTSD.

Stuart Evans’s first novel is a comedy-of-ill-manners set in a nouveau riche milieu: a fantastic satirical performance and hyper-referential homage to masters past and present. Paul Keller is the Stephen Dedalus of the piece, the son of Robert and Sylvie, whose internal monologue is spliced into the action, and whose incestuous feelings for his sister lead to an increase in his...
