The Bells of Saint Mary’s and Other Ventures in Verse Tio Carlos began writing poetry in high school, where he even won a poetry contest. But then, he took a long hiatus as Life intervened. Recently, however, he wandered into Mass at Saint Mary’s Church in Eagle, Colorado. Here he experienced an epiphany that changed his life and inspired him to put his poetic flare to newfound use. The poems in this little treasure of a book reflect his musings on his personal faith as well as his unique interpretation of the core meaning of many of the Scriptures. Some poems, such as 'Freedom,' are full of exuberant playfulness. 'High Horse' succinctly sums up the lesson of Luke 18: But one day that High Horse will throw you, And you’ll be walking the rest of the way. How many of us have found ourselves on that long walk, and how many times have we repeated the same mistake? 'Shake and Bake' reminds all who read it that 'The faithful shall bask in the sun'. If Tio Carlos has one wish, it is that his poems will lead readers into joining him as one of the faithful. Reading between the lines of these uniquely insightful poems, one can see that for Tio Carlos: The trail to salvation is winding, Blocked by deadfall, rockslides and snags. Oh, Lord, I need You as my pardner, As my guide as I ride through the crags. -----The Cowpuncher’s Prayer Let Tio Carlos be your guide as he takes you on a poetic journey through his reflections on faith and the Scriptures. Open your minds and hearts to the voices within. AGNES DE CAMP, Librarian SEATTLE, WA

‘There’s a touch of both Dickinson and Larkin in Jennifer Chrystie’s mature exhumation of the tales and tropes of family. The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...

    Edward V Bonner
The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....
