Anthony Longstreet, born in San Nicolas, Aruba, enjoys an idyllic childhood. He treasures his toy airplanes and dreams of being a pilot. One night in February 1942 changes everything. After a torpedo from a German U-boat hits the oil tanker Pedernales off the coast of Aruba, his family returns to the United States, where he grows up to fulfill his dream of flying. Anthony becomes a personal pilot for notable figures in the 1960s, giving him a unique perspective of events during the early days of the Civil Rights movement and the U.S. space agency. The following years bring even more memorable experiences, from a love relationship developed on a remote airstrip to his capture and kidnapping in South America.
