THE ANGEL OF MUSIC is the complete series of four novels, loosely based on the novel The Phantom of the Opera, by Gaston Leroux.        BOOK 1 SANTA MONICA Twelve-year-old Christine Daaé travels with her widowed father to Los Angeles where he hopes to enroll her in the Belen Conservatory of Music. Homeless and destitute, they work as street performers to earn money for food. Raoul Chagny hears Christine singing on the Santa Monica Pier and he is instantly smitten by the beautiful young girl with an angelic voice.     BOOK 2 SAINT-TROPEZ Christine receives an unexpected invitation to spend two weeks at the Chagny beach house in Saint-Tropez. The rekindling of romance with Raoul in the south of France is interrupted, however, when Christine meets a handsome, charming, and possibly dangerous new boy, Erik. She returns to school at the Belen Conservatory after a brief, glorious, tragic summer.    BOOK 3 SANTA FE Christine travels to Santa Fe where she is offered a summer job working backstage at the legendary Santa Fe Opera House. Rumors abound among the crew that the Opera Ghost has returned. Before singing a single note from the new opera, Sangre de Cristo, the diva La Carlotta becomes violently ill on stage, and Christine is plucked from the audience to sing the leading role.          BOOK 4 SANGRE DE CRISTO After being kidnapped off the stage by the Opera Ghost in front of a sold-out house Christine suddenly finds herself the most famous young soprano in the world, swarmed by reporters and paparazzi. Tickets for 'reopening night' of Sangre de Cristo are at a premium as Christine takes the stage at the Santa Fe Opera House.

Stuart Evans’s first novel is a comedy-of-ill-manners set in a nouveau riche milieu: a fantastic satirical performance and hyper-referential homage to masters past and present. Paul Keller is the Stephen Dedalus of the piece, the son of Robert and Sylvie, whose internal monologue is spliced into the action, and whose incestuous feelings for his sister lead to an increase in his...
