Talk about wisdom is not common today, in this Western culture. But in the olden days of the kings and prophets of Israel, it was very much alive and served those who owned it, guiding kings and servants alike. Though there were many fools and mockers, those who embraced Lady Wisdom to know God’s way knew his blessing; they were at ease and without fear as they trusted him. Today, however, deep in the dusty pages of the Old Testament, it sleeps; it waits to be awakened once again and to display God’s design for people’s lives. The Ancient Code of Biblical Wisdom really is God’s Design for Human Well-Being. It unlocks an understanding of God’s purpose and desire for people on their journey in this life. These ancient texts are meant to connect intimately with the new wisdom, freedom, and grace that all have in Christ. They are to become one. But even as his children, there is a great deal to learn of his design if people desire a flourishing life in the wilderness of this broken world. The halting and teetering walk of believers has yet to become a graceful dance reflecting God’s wisdom. 6
