Smart Sarah and Perceptive Preston discover that their Grandmother and Grandfather have a new activity that is even more fun than playing video games, and it is meant to make sure they get to bed by bedtime. To their surprise, this new game reveals that Grandmother and Grandfather have special superpowers. With the help of a special box full of clothes from the local black history museum, they can turn a game of dress-up into a makeover that transports Smart Sarah and Perceptive Preston back in time so they can walk in the shoes of historical people of color who were innovators and inventors! They learn about the things they use every day that were created by inventors and innovators that were people of color, from furniture, potato chips, and light bulbs, to computer gadgets. This is the first in a series of the many adventures of Sarah and Preston that highlight the many historical and modern-day contributions of people of color in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) career fields and industries. This series is meant to make learning fun, inspiring, relatable and to help highlight many hidden figures in African-American history. We believe if they can see and imagine the possibilities then our young people will grow up believing and knowing that - I can be it!
