The adventures of Mshko Mshkoyan is the story of a voluntary departure, that of Mshko, a protagonist with an irreverent and free character. The author, who tells the story from his own point of view, at the request of Mshko’s girlfriend, starts a journey around Europe with the aim of finding him and bringing him home, but always arriving after his friend and thus ending up never finding him.Every stage he passes through and every unsuccessful discovery, every person he meets and every experience he lives through become a starting point for the author to reflect on life and its circumstances, in a story that winks at masterpieces of early 20th-century Italian literature, in which Mshko recalls Pirandello’s Mattia Pascal in some ways and the author recalls a new Zeno Cosini. Will the author manage to bring Mshko home safely? Abel Mikayelyan started writing from school years. His first small essay, titled Afo was published in the 'Avant-garde' newspaper in 1989. Later, in the early 90s, while he paralleled his study at the university with the job of war correspondent in the 'Urbat' newspaper, both his war stories and his essays were published there. During his work in radio 'Free Europe/Radio Liberty' he was writing reportages in the genre of creative reporting. His first book jointly with some other essay writers from Eastern European countries was published in Warsaw in 1998. His big essay was named The song of the wonderers. Later his six more books titled It was so, Merry go round, Political drunkenness, The wind of change, The Adventures of Mshko Mshkoyan and Poghos and Chikol were published in Armenian in Yerevan. The last four of them are translated in English and he hopes one day people will read them, as well as the other books he’s going to write.
