Partindo do princípio que o fenómeno da violência infantil está em crescente dimensão na atualidade, a preocupação, no que concerne à avaliação das consequências e sequelas psicológicas, é o ponto de interesse principal deste estudo. A avaliação psicológica realizada pelos profissionais da área tem um valor relevante em todo o processo de identificação do fenómeno e, dentre os instrumentos técnicos utilizados para o efeito, a técnica projetiva gráfica, nomeadamente o desenho infantil, mostra-se essencial para avaliar esta situação. Dentre as técnicas projetivas gráficas que abrangem o desenho infantil, escolhemos o teste do Desenho de uma Pessoa Debaixo de Chuva (DPDC), por considerarmos que esta técnica, ao introduzir o elemento simbólico de tensão/pressão (chuva), proporciona muitas riquezas interpretativas, de acordo com Querol e Paz (2004). Esta técnica projectiva é de grande importância e utilidade na avaliação psicológica das crianças, nomeadamente aquelas que sofrem de maus-tratos, e representa uma ferramenta essencial que poderá auxiliar no diagnóstico
