I am a mother of three kids. I wrote my books based on my love of the Tooth Fairy Tradition. I came up with a new twist on the Tooth Fairy. I thought if the Tooth Fairy picks up teeth and so many kids do not properly know how to brush and floss, how great it would be if the Tooth Fairy can entice them to learn. Tooth decay is the number one chronic illness in kids in the USA so I thought, if the Tooth Fairy is going to pick up lost teeth, why not entice kids to take care of them so they are healthy, white teeth not yellow or with a cavity. I thought this was a great idea to get kids to take care of their teeth. The book tells the story about how the Tooth Fairy becomes the Tooth Fairy from birth through the day she confesses she is tired of stinky teeth and it leads into an activity book that is set up that her best friend, Finnegan the Purple Elephant teaches kids how to brush and floss. There are photos with instructions demonstrating the steps of proper way to brush and floss. There are toothpaste charts for every month for 12 months with a spot to color in a toothpaste color if they brush in the morning and night. If they miss either one, he or she colors the spot in yellow, brown or black - which represents plaque, bad breath or a cavity. On the days that they do brush and floss well, they color in the spot a toothpaste color. When they miss, the toothpaste is crusty. The goal is to have a toothpaste colored squirt after every month. After 3 months, the Tooth Fairy comes and leaves a surprise ONLY if a job was well done. There are 3 quarters - after each one, the child earns a degree up to a 'Masters' - they 'Mastered the Art of Brushing & Flossing'. There is a 4th quarter, and as a 'master' they grade themselves and by the end, they are an expert. I think of it as if the Tooth Fairy comes and leaves some money for a job well done, that is a lot cheaper than paying for a filling! This is a new take on the Tooth Fairy and there isn’t any other books like this one and nothing compares to this book to teach dental care. The other books related are stories, this is an actual teachable book with diagrams and directions.
