Ce livre est le parcours d’un homme de devoir. Tahar IBTATENE, cet homme de courage, décédé en 2000, vécut une vie extraordinaire jonchée d’aventures périlleuses mêlées à l’Histoire contemporaine. Arrivé en France en 1924, à l’âge de 15 ans, il passa le reste de son existence à Paris. Il a rejoint les Services secrets du Général de Gaulle dès 1940, et ce jusqu’à la Libération. Il fut un agent secret permanent et émérite du BCRA, l’ancêtre de la DST et bras armé du Général pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Dans la Résistance, il fut surnommé Tintin , et eut à son actif des faits héroïques de premier plan.En 1954, au déclenchement de la Guerre d’Algérie, le choix cornélien ne se posa pas pour Tintin , il prit à nouveau ses responsabilités, tout en espérant le retour aux affaires du Général de Gaulle. Membre du FLN historique algérien, puis proche des démocrates pendant la période post-indépendance, il fut aussi un artisan convaincu et pragmatique d’une véritable Indépendance de l’Algérie.
