This book is about the history of the Dariiqo village, situated in the renowned city of Sheekh in Somaliland. In the mid-19th century, Sayid-Aadan Ahmed Samatar settled in the town of Sheikh, where he established a renowned educational institution dedicated to the study of Islam. This book provides an in-depth examination of the institution’s origins and its profound impact on Somaliland and the rest of the Somali region.This institution has produced renowned and respected scholars, many of whom have held important positions in the judiciary, including Qaaddi, Haji Mohamed Hussein Jirde, Qaaddi, Haji Nur Abdalle and Qaaddi, Haji Mohamed Siraad, who was the Supreme Qaaddi of Somaliland.In the field of education, Sayyid-Ahmed Sheikh Muse was the founder of the Somali-language branch of Sawtul Arab Radio, which was based in Cairo in the 1950s. Mohamed Shire Gaab, one of the first teachers in Somaliland, also played a key role in shaping the educational landscape of the region. Similarly, Amina Macallin Qasim is credited with being the first woman to stand in front of the classroom as a teacher in 1953, marking an important milestone in the history of education in Somaliland.
