The world and the worlds within are not equal but some are more equal than others. The difference between those with and those without can be as simple as a place, a time, a favour or a misfortune. The fortunate can be blind to the daily struggle and suffering of others. It is hard to see because it is even harder to unsee. For those who are unable to live freely, knowingly and without fear, their world is a matter of survival. The way in which unequal worlds reveal the opposite of what we expect or the inevitable of what we had expected can be dark, full of humour or irony. And what cannot be understood can be explained as the mischief of spirits, witches and demons. Unequal worlds are superstitious worlds.The stories in this book reflect journeys to survive in unequal worlds. Over the past 40 years some have been forgotten, some remain hidden, but others have lingered because of their dark sense of humour and strength of human spirit. Most of the stories are my own or are stylised versions of events that happened at around the same time in about the same place. All are based on personal accounts.
