Głównym celem niniejszego badania było zidentyfikowanie stylu rodzicielskiego, z którego wywodzi się każdy nastoletni przestępca odbywający karę wychowawczą, zgodnie z jego własną percepcją. Badanie miało charakter ilościowy i eksploracyjny. Próbę badawczą stanowiło 24 nieletnich przestępców, zarówno płci męskiej, jak i żeńskiej, objętych środkami wychowawczymi. Do zebrania danych wykorzystano kwestionariusz oraz Inwentarz Rodzicielski Younga (IPY). Uzyskane wyniki pozwoliły stwierdzić, że spośród siedemnastu początkowych schematów dysadaptywnych ocenionych za pomocą IPY, jedenaście z nich uzyskało wysokie wyniki, co wskazuje, że potrzeby emocjonalne wczesnego dzieciństwa nie zostały odpowiednio zaspokojone. Stwierdzono, że czynniki społeczne, ekonomiczne, edukacyjne, psychologiczne i styl rodzicielski mogą być zarówno czynnikami ochronnymi, jak i czynnikami ryzyka i/lub podatności na zagrożenia.
