I giacimenti di petrolio pesante (anche quelli convenzionali) classificati come candidati per l’inondazione di vapore devono spesso essere sottoposti a un vaglio di priorità a causa delle limitazioni di budget, di risorse umane e di permessi. Inoltre, spesso vengono eseguiti studi di sensibilità sui progetti di steam flooding per determinare gli effetti di varie strategie operative sulle prestazioni del progetto e sulla fattibilità economica. Le previsioni sulle prestazioni delle piene di vapore richieste in questi studi di screening e di sensibilità possono essere effettuate utilizzando uno o più dei modelli analitici ed empirici disponibili in letteratura. Anche i modelli numerici dei serbatoi che simulano il processo di inondazione di vapore possono essere utilizzati per fare le previsioni richieste. Sebbene questi modelli analitici e/o numerici possano essere sufficienti, in genere richiedono calcoli piuttosto lunghi e l’uso di un computer. Il presente libro si concentra sullo sviluppo del fattore di recupero da inondazione di vapore in base ai parametri del giacimento. A tal fine, viene utilizzata la regressione lineare multipla per estendere la correlazione al fine di prevedere il recupero dell’olio seguito dall’inondazione di vapore sulla base dei dati di campo.
