Nonostante il suo utilizzo in diversi processi, come catalizzatore nella sintesi del biodiesel, attualmente i produttori utilizzano un solo metodo di quantificazione delle soluzioni di metossido di sodio, che viene effettuato in modo indiretto e richiede un tempo relativamente lungo. Questo lavoro presenta un metodo alternativo, basato sulla termometria, meno costoso, più veloce e semplice, che può essere applicato all’ispezione della ricezione delle materie prime e al controllo di qualità dei processi industriali, indicato a professionisti e ricercatori in generale. La stabilità all’ossidazione è considerata un parametro critico nel controllo di qualità del biodiesel. In pratica, la degradazione del biodiesel dà origine a sostanze che causano numerosi problemi ai motori. Nella seconda parte di questo lavoro viene presentato uno studio sull’influenza del liquido ottenuto dalla buccia della noce di acagiù (LCC) sulla stabilità ossidativa del biodiesel di diverse materie prime. I risultati ottenuti, che rivelano vantaggi del suo utilizzo che vanno oltre il miglioramento della qualità del biodiesel, forniscono anche informazioni utili ai professionisti del settore dei biocarburanti, inclusi produttori, ricercatori, politici, insegnanti e studenti.
