Le trouble dysmorphique corporel (TDC) est un trouble mental dont la prévalence est cinq fois supérieure à celle de l’anorexie, touchant jusqu’à 2,4 % de la population générale. Le symptôme principal est une fixation sur un trait physique que la personne considère comme laid, ce qui peut l’amener à adopter des comportements répétitifs et ritualisés, comme se gratter la peau ou vérifier très fréquemment son apparence dans le miroir. Le souci de l’apparence et les comportements associés sont analogues aux obsessions et aux compulsions observées dans le trouble obsessionnel compulsif (TOC). Cet ouvrage vise à caractériser la structure et les circuits cérébraux du TDC afin de comprendre les mécanismes qui sous-tendent l’apparition et la persistance de ce trouble. Nous avons constitué le plus grand échantillon de neuroimagerie du TDC à ce jour, en scannant 20 participants atteints de TDC et en les comparant à 20 témoins sains. Trois techniques d’imagerie ont été utilisées : l’imagerie par résonance magnétique structurelle (IRM), l’imagerie par tenseur de diffusion (ITD) et l’IRM fonctionnelle au repos.
