Strop tells the story of a young Afrikaans girl in a house of violence, of male dominance over women and girls with no escape from its tentacles. It highlights the plight of those in a society which allows such domestic abuse through its silence and adherence to old-fashioned views of ’a man knows best.’Historical events play out in the far northern reaches of South Africa, where sparsely populated areas kept watch over the unsaid misery of stoic females.Strop is based on true events during the 1920’s.
