DeGaris Reeves was a teacher, historian, gardener, athlete, school superintendent, husband and father. His poems were written between the 1920s and the 1940s, but they spent all of their life in a box-until now! With this first publication, Reeves gives us a window back in time to see how he perceived life during this historical period. The collection spans many topics, presenting poems on the virtues of friendship; questions on life, purpose, and destiny; an appreciation for nature; a memoir; a love sonnet; faith in God to guide us; and the conviction that good will prevail in the end. If there is one message we can glean from his life and his poetry, it is this: even in the midst of troubles, disappointment and rejection-strive on. Strive on! The God that made the earth, labored hard and long, Strive on! And duly prove your worth and do it with a song.
