I pray that as you read this book that each poem will minister something to you. I want you to know that each poem was written in deep thought. Most of the times these words sprung up out of intense moments of fellowship. I’d strike pen to paper and begin to pour out my heart. Within these pages there are many different variety of poems. Poems for children, poems of love, poems to build, poems to help, strengthen and encourage. Each poem meant and still means something to me. Even now there are poems that I can reflect upon during certain times and a spring of joy will overshadow me. These poems sprang from feelings, emotions I were facing and sometimes they were formed out of a deep thought that came to mind while working with children or walking outside and enjoying natures telescope. I’m reminded of a close friend of mines who has been encouraged and strengthened by these words. Many times I’d turn on my computer and find a message from her simply stating 'I need a poem for this test' and God; just as good as he is would give me the words to write to her that would help her to make it to the next level. Through these poems my friend was encouraged as well as many others to endure and to go forth in the will of God. I know that once you get this book in your hands that you will find it difficult to put down because it is a book that speaks life to all who read it. Many Blessings,Jaazer Craig

‘There’s a touch of both Dickinson and Larkin in Jennifer Chrystie’s mature exhumation of the tales and tropes of family. Figures who could so easily flit like phantoms in her well honed poetry are palpably enjoying an after-life in the poet’s ability to redeem through deep understanding. The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...

    Edward V Bonner
The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....

  • The Truth about A

In his interpretation of Antigone, Seamus Heaney says, ‘Nobody can be sure they are always right.’ Maureen O’Shaughnessy’s The Truth about A further attends to this idea through various readings of the myth as portrayed by Sophocles, Brecht, Ted Hughes, Anne Carson and, most particularly, Euripides. Set in contemporary Sydney, among a fictional underworld family, The Truth abou...
