Das besondere Profil der Tagung Störfall Gender, die vom 4.-6. November 2002 in der Carl Friedrich von Siemens Stiftung in München stattgefunden hat, lag darin, drei charakteristische Kennzeichen der Gender-Forschung zu reflektieren und in ein neues Verhältnis zu setzen: ihre wissenschaftstheoretische Fragestellung, die inter- bzw. transdisziplinäre Ausrichtung und die Heterogenität der Zugangsweisen in der Gender-Forschung selbst. Der gemeinsame Fokus besteht darin, die offenen und verdeckten forschungsbestimmenden Leitdifferenzen der einzelnen Disziplinen in Frage zu stellen. Die interdisziplinären Kommentare zu den gehaltenen Referaten dokumentieren die Vielfalt der Standpunkte, die durch den Einzug der analytischen Kategorie 'Gender' in die verschiedenen Wissenschaften entstanden sind und bieten so einen reichhaltigen Einblick in die Gender-Forschung über die Grenzen der einzelnen Disziplinen hinaus.
