Stop Leading on Empty

In Lead with Soul: Stop Leading on Empty, former global fintech leader Patrick Dunn speaks to every high performer who looks successful on paper but feels secretly exhausted, numb, or stuck. If you’ve been pretending you’re 'fine' while running on fumes, this book is for you. It’s the first in his Lead with Soul series: a brutally honest, hopeful roadmap for leaders who know something has to change. When a layoff from the role he’d poured himself into finally arrived-after months of quietly preparing for the possibility-it shattered the identity he’d spent decades building and exposed a truth he could no longer outrun: he’d been leading on empty for years. Through vivid stories, raw admission, and practical tools, Patrick takes readers inside that unraveling-and the slow, real process of building a life and leadership style that actually fit.Drawing on years leading global teams in high-pressure, highly regulated environments, plus his roots in environmental science and peacebuilding, Patrick introduces a simple, powerful framework for soulful leadership built around four core pillars. Readers learn to spot early warning signs of burnout and misalignment, reclaim presence in the middle of chaos, redefine purpose as their 'why' evolves, and design rhythms of regeneration that make service sustainable instead of self-sacrificing.Lead with Soul: Stop Leading on Empty is part memoir, part field guide-a companion for leaders, founders, and changemakers who don’t just want to keep climbing. They want their work, and their leadership, to finally feel true.
