Atualmente, o VIH/SIDA é um problema grave que afecta Cuba e especialmente a província de Santiago de Cuba, e os cirurgiões maxilo-faciais desempenham um papel fundamental na sua deteção, prevenção e tratamento. Por esta razão, a formação académica dos estomatologistas e cirurgiões maxilo-faciais necessita de integrar os conhecimentos adquiridos nas diferentes disciplinas, pelo que é necessário desenvolver e aplicar novas técnicas de apoio ao ensino, como os materiais didácticos.Criar um material didático de apoio ao processo de ensino-aprendizagem da licenciatura em Estomatologia que integre os conhecimentos fundamentais sobre o VIH/SIDA e a sua relação com os cuidados médicos em cirurgia oral.
