With a similar charm of Wind in the Willows, or the thrill of the imaginative adventure of James and the Giant Peach, Stickley of Pin Oak Hollow follows the life of pint-sized forest workers Stickley, Spritely, Babs and their many friends. The story centers around 18'-tall Stickley who is born into the world of forest Stream Management. He lives in the majestic Pin Oak Hollow, known throughout the woodland region as a landmark for its stately beauty and unique formation history. Spritely and Babs join him in maintaining the musical beauty of their favorite flowing streams through seasonal shifts. Frozen water is the backdrop of winter. Spring thaw releases torrents of dangerously rushing currents. Summer allows time off to leisurely float down the Ramblin’ River. And each fall regularly demands the hauling of sticks and fallen leaves from streambeds to avert dams and other dangers. Abandoned, unmanaged streams have prickly branches and collected clutter choking the natural flow. A well-kept stream is treasured by everyone in the forest region, including the Big Ones. The reader will fall in love with Stickley and his friends as they meet challenges to their environment, to their home, to their community and to their very lives in the pursuit of managing the flow of beautiful rambling streams. The reader will never look at a stream in the same way again.
