Mówiąc najprościej, stereotypy płciowe to uogólnienia dotyczące ról każdej płci. Role płciowe nie są generalnie ani pozytywne, ani negatywne; są to po prostu niedokładne uogólnienia atrybutów męskich i żeńskich.
