Die starre interne Fixierung ist ein chirurgisches Verfahren, bei dem Knochenbrüche mit Metallimplantaten präzise reponiert und immobilisiert werden, um die Heilung zu ermöglichen. Die intermaxilläre Fixierung, mit oder ohne offene Reposition, ist die Hauptstütze der traditionellen Fixierungstechniken zur Stabilisierung von Unterkieferfrakturen. Die starre interne Fixierung mit Miniplatten und Schrauben hat sich in den letzten zehn Jahren für die Behandlung akuter traumatischer Unterkieferverletzungen allgemein durchgesetzt.
