Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a common type of skin cancer. This book focuses on emerging fields of research and analysis on squamous cell carcinoma. It commences by providing details on management and features of some specific SCCs in order to impart the readers with knowledge on the general principles dealing with these unusual conditions. Latest concepts in adjuvant therapy like neo-adjuvant therapy and gold nanoparticle-based photo dynamic therapy have also been discussed. Information on molecular characteristics of tumor invasion and progression in SCC has been provided with particular stress on some important aspects. Role of tumor microenvironment in neck and head SCC has also been discussed in detail. Furthermore, the function of cancer stem cells (CSC) in cancer therapy of SCC has been reviewed. Extensive information about molecular mechanisms of therapeutic resistance and latest strategies targeting CSCs has been provided. Towards the end, other aspects related to SCC have been discussed thoroughly including assessment, genetic manipulation and possible clinical implications for the treatment of SCC.
