Hans-Wolfgang Renz berichtet in seiner Autobiographie 'Spuren des Lebens' über seine Kindheit unterm Hakenkreuz, über das schlimme Kriegsende und die schwere Zeit danach. Der Autor beschreibt sein Leben und schweigt sich auch über Eskapaden - vor und während seiner Ehe - nicht aus. Die wichtigsten Phasen seines Lebens jedoch - seine Kletterzeit, seine Wildwasserfahrten und seine Reisen mit Segelyachten und auf Containerschiffen - dominieren das Werk. Im reifen Alter entschloss er sich, alles in einem Buch zusammenzufassen und zu veröffentlichen. Der sich im Laufe der Jahre veränderte Schreibstil wurde belassen, kein Ghostwriter hat in dieses Buch seinen eigenen Stil eingebracht. Hans-Wolfgang Renz, geb. 10.04.1937, hatte schon als junger Mann seine Erlebnisse aufgeschrieben, teilweise auch publiziert. Das Internet gab ihm nun die Möglichkeit, seine Erlebnisse darzustellen.
