As I look back in the book of life, many chapters have been completed, at the end of each chapter there were special memories, some good some bad, some happy and some sad. As we close the door on each chapter of life another one will open, The essence of this book 'Sounds of the night' came to me in the form of poetry, The majority came to me in the middle of the night; I will wake in the middle of the night with the feeling I must write something. My son would say 'Mom' get up and write them down. If I don’t they will be gone forever to never be remembered again, sometimes they seem strange to me while writing them, but when morning comes there was a reason for each poem, for example 'Free' at the same time I was writing this my sister-in-laws mother passed away,A lot of my poems were written for someone special in my life. 'Special Child' in memory of my niece.'A flower for his Garden' for a friend who lost his wife in a car accident.' God’s flower in full bloom' in memory of my sister.'The unfinished poem' in memory of a friend' Sisters' a combination of all my sisters rolled into one.'Brothers' about two brothers who were always into something. There have been many times when I’ve felt very close to God, 'Draw near to me' was the product of this closeness to God. At other times I will be thinking of everything I have to be thankful for and of God’s greatness and poems emerge as such. 'Wind''He leads me''Undying love''Thank You' One of my favorite, 'Slow me down Lord' was written at a time I was moving to fast in my life and forgetting to take time to look at the beauty around me. ' Silver Anniversary' was written for our daughter and son-in-law. 'Golden Anniversary' for a sister-in- law and brother-in law 'Young love' was for my husband on our Golden Anniversary. 'Unusual Child' was written after a mother sat and told me this beautiful story about her daughter. Poetry is a way to share all the beauty I see in the world with ot

‘There’s a touch of both Dickinson and Larkin in Jennifer Chrystie’s mature exhumation of the tales and tropes of family. The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular.
