Soulful Poems of Godly Love is a collection of poems from a man who professes his devotion as a servant of God, a friend, a husband, and a father. 'Special Delivery' assures every one of us that in this callous and hateful world where we feel alone, God will always be with us no matter what. 'I sit and wail, in this world I'm tiny and so frail/Scared of this place, scared to go to hell...But one day I got some mail./The senders name was JESUS CHRIST/He said hold on to me for I love and know you well,/You're not Alone....' In 'Oh So Special,' he considers friendship as a gift from God. 'Your stature is pleasing, I marvel at your ways/Just at the thought of you, you brighten up my days/You're loving kind, one of a kind, from GOD special made/Through these times, through all times, memories of you never fade.' A man remorseful of his sinful living, begging for forgiveness from his wonderful wife, asking for a second chance is what 'Superman' depicts. 'Baby forgive me for all the wrongs I've done, I never meant/to hurt you and now that God's in my life I see who's the/source of where my wrong comes from...words can't express how much I love and adore you....Trusting in our hearts, knowing we're one of a kind, you/and me together, erasing all thoughts of time/No interruptions, Just God, a man, his kids and His wife,/Content being together living a wonderful, peaceful, family life.' About the Author Gerald Alii Proctor was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and grew up in Virginia, where he went to study at Norfolk State University. He has been a resident of Virginia Beach for years and an active member of his church and other religious organizations in his community.

‘There’s a touch of both Dickinson and Larkin in Jennifer Chrystie’s mature exhumation of the tales and tropes of family. Figures who could so easily flit like phantoms in her well honed poetry are palpably enjoying an after-life in the poet’s ability to redeem through deep understanding. The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...

    Edward V Bonner
The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....

  • The Truth about A
    Maureen O'Shaughnessy
In his interpretation of Antigone, Seamus Heaney says, ‘Nobody can be sure they are always right.’ Maureen O’Shaughnessy’s The Truth about A further attends to this idea through various readings of the myth as portrayed by Sophocles, Brecht, Ted Hughes, Anne Carson and, most particularly, Euripides.
