Queste sostanze vengono aggiunte agli alimenti per vari scopi (aumentare il gusto, prolungare la data di scadenza, conservare il colore, l’odore, ecc.) Anche le sostanze utilizzate per lo sviluppo delle piante in agricoltura (pesticidi, fertilizzanti, ecc.) sono dannose per la salute. Pervarie ragioni (pesticidi e fertilizzanti, impianti industriali, campi metallurgici , impianti e fabbriche, ecc.), la contaminazione dell’acqua potabile, del suolo e dell’aria con composti nocivi e metalli pesanti causa anche problemi di salute alle persone. In base alladomanda dei tempi, anche se non possiamo eliminare completamente tali alimenti e sostanze dalla nostra vita, possiamo ridurne al minimo gli effetti negativi . Ilmio obiettivo nella ricerca e nella stesura di un lavoro scientifico è quello di educare le persone e di indirizzarle a stare lontane da abitudini e cibi pericolosi.
