Soroka 4 is the third level of a Russian language course, 'Soroka: Russian for Kids.'This level has 2 titles. Soroka 4 and Sarafan 1. The reason is that the structure of the books at this level is slightly different, as well as the size of the books.Student’s Book for Soroka 4 helps students to learn grammar - specifically, finishing all the cases - by engaging them with exercises presented with a travel theme.Besides learning how to name different countries and languages in Russian, students will learn how to say that they go from one place to another. Within the pages of the Student’s Book, they will explore Russia with a crew of cosmonauts; visit Lake Baikal in the south of Siberia, and the Valley of Geysers on the Kamchatka Peninsula; marvel at polar nights (Aurora Borealis) in Murmansk; and enjoy the warm hospitality of people in the Ural mountain range. As with the Soroka series, techniques used include exercises, dictations and oral drills.'Soroka: Russian for Kids' was created for children ages 7 through 9 who are learning Russian for the first time. This course is suitable for speakers of all languages. Each of the three levels has a Student’s Book, Activity Book, and Teacher’s Book that complement one another. The direct method of teaching, which is based on the oral approach, makes learning more engaging and comfortable because students do not need to study grammar rules separately before seeing how they work in practice. In this course, students learn through ready-made phrases rather than memorizing case names or abstract grammar terms. They immediately see how words and phrases are used in speech and analyze them through examples later, when needed. For students and teachers, the course provides free audio recordings featuring mini-dialogues spoken by native Russian speakers. Methodological recommendations are also included to help teachers and parents use the audio files effectively. The course is appropriate for parents who want to teach Russian independently at home, as well as for organizations that offer group classes in weekend schools, study groups, and similar educational settings.
